( AESIR )

Aesir

At first glance, Aesir are not much different from humans. But unlike humans, Aesir have been blessed by Yggdrasil. This makes all the difference in the world. Though their strength varies depending on the individual, it far outdoes the strength of any human. Their senses are the same, unnaturally sharp, and even the youngest of Aesir can sense magic when it is near.

Owing to their blessing, an Aesir can only be killed by another race that has received this same blessing — or, if they are unlucky, by another Aesir. Aesir are conditioned for battle at a young age and are taught to seek the ideal of an "honorable death." Like Vanir, particularly powerful Aesir — those revered as gods by mortal creatures — can manifest abilities all their own. But whereas Vanir tend to be more spiritually oriented, an Aesir's powers are usually for battle and not much else.

The Aesir, who make their home on Asgard, are ruled by a king, Víðarr, as well as by twelve judges that he has appointed in his father's tradition.

Vanir-Aesir children aren't common, but are always much more powerful than the two races of their parentage (most of Odin's sons, for example). There is no official name for them, but some call them Vanær.
