Hel

The Realm of the Dead is the Ninth of the Nine Realms. Hel is presided over by the deity of the same name: Hel, daughter of Loki. She takes the sick, the dying, and the evil, whereas the noble and those who die in battle go to two different places. Most of Hel is valleys so dark that it is impossible to see anything but the road ahead of you and the slope of valley walls around you. Hel herself lives in Éljúðnir, a great hall, where she sits on a throne; it is at the end of that long, long road.
